Scotland bronze aged boat, Scottish Terriers & a little history

On Friday the 11th August a historical bronze age boat in the River Tay was floated downstream to Newburgh in Fife where it was gently lifted out of the Tay by a crane. The event was watched by many local people and filmed by the BBC.

The pictures shown are of the ancient 3000 year old bronze aged boat arriving at Newburgh, Fife after having been floated down from the direction of Perth. Many people were waiting to see this historical event, along with many children.

The bronze aged boat was floated down the River Tay underwater to protect the timber the ancient boat from drying out. A crane at Newburgh harbour was used to lower a protective cage which was used to bring the boat up from the water.

A 3,000-year-old boat has been lifted from the mud of the River Tay.

The Bronze Age vessel is one of the best examples of a logboat ever found in Scotland. Andrew Anderson reports on the BBC Scotland website - see the report on video and you just may be able to see my rascal dog "Sam" in the video and the twit in the shorts, yes you guessed it, me!
